Gary Gazlay grew up in Pinellas County, Florida and began studying piano at the age of five.  He attended Maderia Beach Jr. High School (Paul T. Nicholson - director) and

Seminole High School – (Edward J. McSheehey - director), and the positive influence of both of these men on his life is the reason he chose a career as a music teacher.  In 1970 through the encouragement of his high school band director, he entered and won the Florida Bandmasters Association’s Henry Fillmore Composition Award.

Mr. Gazlay attended the University of South Florida and studied French Horn with Douglas Hill and Ward Fern.  After graduating from college in 1974, he moved to Madison, Florida and began his teaching career in the Madison County Florida Public School System where he has taught music for the past 32 years at the adult, high school, middle school and elementary levels.  In 1979 the Madison High School Band was selected and performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.  He currently is teaching instrumental and general music at Madison County Central School located in Madison Florida, and is also a music coordinator at a local church in his community. 

Mr. Gazlay is a member of; ASCAP, MENC, Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Music Educators’ Association, The National Band Association, and Pi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
